Career:
Called in 1996
Undertook pupillage in Chambers prior to becoming a tenant.
Principal areas of practice:
Nicholas specialises primarily in high net worth complex ancillary relief cases, often with an international element. He also frequently undertakes Schedule 1 cases, the drafting of nuptial agreements and advising on their enforceability, Inheritance Act cases, jurisdiction matters and complex private law children disputes.
He is one of the few members of the family bar to have won a second tier appeal to the Court of Appeal in an ancillary relief case within the first three years of practice: Dorney-Kingdom v Dorney-Kingdom [2000] 2 FLR 855.
More recent reported cases include I v I (Ancillary Relief: Disclosure) [2009] 1 FLR 201 concerning the principle of material disclosure and the setting aside of consent orders and, in the Court of Appeal, Bokor-Ingram v Bokor-Ingram [2009].
He is recommended as a leading junior in The Legal 500 and in Chambers & Partners (2012) who describe him as “quickly building a name for himself in big-money cases. He enjoys a "reputation for being right most of the time" and is much in demand with solicitors, who say "his advice is invariably authoritative, straightforward and sensible, and his preparation is formidable."
